Arguably the pioneer of the 'smart hotel', CitizenM is a Dutch hotel chain with 20 locations worldwide, including London, New York and Paris. While working with hospitality app provider iRiS Software Systems, I had the chance to work on their new in-room guest services application.

At your fingertips
To the casual eye, a CitizenM hotel room doesn't deviate far from the typical formula: television, stereo, room service and mood lighting are just a few of the ubiquitous amenities offered in their guest suites. However, CitizenM may well have been among the first to allow their guests the ability to control each of these features using a single device.
Quite literally a universal remote, the CitizenM guest services application comes pre-installed on an iPad found within each suite. The app connects directly to not only the room's environment controls (lighting, air conditioning, music), and media system, but also acts as a 'digital concierge', allowing guests to make dinner reservations and order room service also.
